Welcome to Seven Summits Body. Over the last handful of years, as I lost my weight, and got in shape, with the goal of eventually completing the Seven Summits, I had so many friends at work, in my neighborhood, extended family, facebook and twitter friends, who offered me support, and asked me questions about the different things I do to train, and it’s been so much fun I just had to share.
My perception of a mountaineer that completes the summits without being dragged around on a leash by a very strong sherpa or guide, is that they have to become an endurance athlete. Days of hauling heavy packs, in cold intolerable environments, dragging sleds, 20 hour epic summit days. These are attributes of an endurance athlete.
There are several ways to become one, several different training programs, tools, equipment, clothes, skills to acquire, as you grow into a mountaineer. I’d like to show you some of the things I do. The tools I use. The skills I learn. To become fit, healthy, athletic on my pursuit of the Seven Summits.
From books and shoes, to training programs, maybe even recipes, I’ll follow this path. Follow along and enjoy.
